"I am a tough career prosecutor who puts victims first, and I will be a District Attorney of whom the people will be proud."

-Brad Burget

Over the past ten years, I have obtained an enormous amount of experience through my position as an Assistant District Attorney. I worked in the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office for four years, where I prosecuted major felony cases including homicides, robberies, burglaries, drug distributions, rapes and sexual assaults. I tried over seventy jury trials in Jefferson Parish.

In 2002, I returned home to Concordia Parish and was hired as an Assistant District Attorney with the Seventh Judicial District. Over the past six years, I have personally tried over a dozen felony jury trials all of which ended in conviction. In fact, I have won every felony jury trial in which I was the lead prosecutor, that is nearly fifty jury trials and a 100% conviction rate. In 2006, I was promoted to First Assistant District Attorney.

For the past six years, I have served the citizens of this district with integrity and professionalism. I have handled thousands of prosecutions in my career and I am extremely proud of my jury trial experiences and unmatched conviction rate. Jury trials are won by hard work, preparation and dedication to the victims and citizens of these parishes

The District Attorney must be a tough effective prosecutor of those people in our society who engaged in criminal conduct. The District Attorney enforces the laws of the land and upholds the constitution. An effective District Attorney employs common sense to all decisions and must not abuse the authority of which the people have entrusted him.

At the same time, the District Attorney is accountable to the people and must be fair to all citizens, compassionate with the victims of crime, and easily accessible to the people. I believe my philosophy concerning law enforcement, family values and public service is that which you would expect from your District Attorney. I intend to put my experiences and philosophy to use as District Attorney for the people of Catahoula and Concordia Parishes.

Thanks to each of you for considering my candidacy. I humbly ask for your vote and support for the Office of District Attorney of the Seventh Judicial District, Catahoula and Concordia Parishes, for the upcoming election on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
